Reuben Seldo, Poetry 2020 Longlist

SERENDIPITY

Two separate lives, destinies intertwined,

Fortune's favour, fates entwined.

A serendipitous rendezvous,

Call it chance, a bolt from the blue.

Along you came, with love's binding spell,

And every apprehension did you quell

Became the spark that sets anew the flame,

Of a love restrained and tame.

Thawed the ice, broke down the wall,

Of which myself I did surround

Walked right though like nothing at all

And once again - within you - myself I found.

Forthwith, the days are brighter,

And the gardens, they did bloom again

And no more shall trials torn asunder,

The affection of this lovelorn twain.
