Poetry 2017 Longlist Henal Jhaveri

My Lighthouse

Standing tall atop the shore,
Angry waves crashing rocks to the core,
The lighthouse waits in all its glory,
Directing the darkness, weaving a story,
It’s a guiding light for the lost and the lonely,
More people kept their eyes open, if only,
For me you’re that lighthouse, my saviour light,
Showing me the way, away from all the plight,
Life was like the sea, like a disastrous tide,
Then you came along and led me to the safe side,
You are my rock solid fortress of hope,
My only way to survive, my only reason to cope.
