Silence speaks
They were meeting each other for the first
time after having started to chat since two months. He was lying on the
carpet and she was sitting beside him; trying to make him talk but he
just wouldn’t utter anything except “hmmm”. She had to persuade him to
talk; for the first time. She opened their old chats, photos, and
brought up stories of her school, college, siblings everything, only to
realize that all was in vain. He kept staring at her with some
sadness in his eyes which only she could read. She wanted to know the
reason. But he had decided to keep silent. There was no other way she
could think of to make him open up and then they went back to their
rooms to sleep. She was restless, couldn’t see him like he was!
She pinged him, and they started talking. He
said, “I can’t believe we are chatting even after being in the same
house”. She shared the same feelings! Inquisitive she began to put
efforts to make him talk about what was bothering him so much. “If not
me, whom will you share your feelings with, dear?” She asked with
sheer concern. After 4-5 message exchanges, he opened up. He told he
was feeling deeply sad. She asked if she could come to his room and
the reply was “Yes, you could! :)”
She went in and they were together again. He
kept looking at her. Totally blushing and figuring out words to speak,
she said “I like to talk to you. You know that and I feel that the
talk part is changing to….” She paused and tried again but paused
again. He held her hand and asked her to resume… She began… “I like to
talk to you... and I like you!”
He liked her too. His smile was enough to convey
this to her. But then was the time he broke his silence. He talked of
how their peaceful lives were taking an unexpected flip. He told “Our
friend is deeply hurt because you are with me” The moment which
should have been a wow, wasn’t that special now. It turned out to be a
love triangle!
